The Compulsive Gambler

 

Gambling addiction is a silent addiction affecting people of all ages. These innocent people never realized their lives were going to change just by placing one simple bet. It all seemed innocent at the time but once they were addicted to gambling they began a self destructive course devastating their lives and those around them.

The following is the process some compulsive gamblers have gone through as their gambling addiction escalated:

1) The compulsive gambler placed their very first bet

2) The compulsive gambler believed gambling helped block the stress in their lives.

3) The compulsive gambler wins a small amount of money.

4) The compulsive gambler thinks they can win again

5) The compulsive gambler attempts to win again

6) The compulsive gambler believes based on statistics that they will win.

7) The compulsive gambler believes that since they lost the last three times they gambled they are sure they will win the next bet.

8) The compulsive gambler time after time loses but still believes the next time they are going to win back all their money.

9) The compulsive gambler stops spending money on needed necessities.

10) The compulsive gambler self destructive lifestyle negative affects those around them.

11) The compulsive gambler runs out of resources to gamble.

12) The compulsive gambler begins to borrow money

13) The compulsive gambler borrows more money in order to pay off all of their debts.

14) The compulsive gambler will get taken advantage of by those that lent them money. For example high interest loans and credit cards.

15) The compulsive gambler continues to struggle to find a way out

16) The compulsive gambler realizes they have a gambling addiction problem

17) The compulsive gambler believes they have no where to turn. They gamble even more.

18) The compulsive gambler realizes now that those around them will discover their gambling addiction,

19) The compulsive gambler hits bottom and begins the never ending search to stop their gambling addiction.

Compulsive gamblers now have resources available to them to stop their gambling addiction.
